Keys for XML
This is a subset, but an important subset, of our work on integrity
constraints for XML. Keys are essential in the design of relational databases, and they
are also important in XML documents where they are closely connected with "digital identifiers"
and "deep citations" in digital libraries.
Unlike their relational counterparts, keys in XML have a hierarchical structure, which makes
defining them and reasoning about them a non-trivial exercise.
